Shailza Jolly, a Ph.D. student in Computer Science, studying at the University of Kaiserslautern in Germany, working with Prof. Andreas Dengel, visited the University of Copenhagen in Denmark. Her 3-month research stay was from 01.01.2021 to 31.03.2021. There she conducted research under the supervision of Prof. Isabelle Augenstein. Her research was focused on investigating methods capable of synthesizing narrative and informative human-like justifications from ruling comments (RCs) for fact-checking systems. This work was fully in line with the objectives of the COST Action, which covers text generation and multilinguality. During the visit, Shailza developed a system that performs unsupervised post-editing to generate fluent fact-checking explanations. Her work has been summarised in a paper and is under review.
