On January 18, 2024, the Albanian National Agency for Research and Innovation, under the Ministry of Education in Albania, hosted the COST INFO DAY. The event saw the participation of central governance officers from Brussels, the national Cost MC, working group members, and expert evaluators representing Albania in various Cost Actions. Albania became a full member of the COST Association in 2019, and it’s noteworthy that 75% of its COST leadership and management roles are held by female scholars. Ms. Salome Moezzi-Gacon, a Governance Officer at the COST Association, praised Albania as a shining model of high gender representation across all levels of COST action activities.
Mirela shared her experience as the Albanian MC and Ad Interim Vice Chair for GP2 of CA 18231. She enthusiastically highlighted the benefits of Cost at the national, institutional, and individual levels. Mirela not only deepened her scientific understanding of the NLGP and human language technology but, more importantly, she is actively advocating for curriculum adjustments to incorporate the human language technology track for IT students and, similarly, for students of social sciences. Multi3generation served as an excellent platform comprised of brilliant computer scientists and linguists to gain cutting-edge knowledge in this new track, and to foster academic cooperation for the future. It also provided a unique channel of visibility for her institution, Epoka University in Albania.
